Job Description

Service Technician – OEM Finishing Equipment

EMT International is a global manufacturer of innovative OEM finishing equipment for the digital printing industry, and we're looking for an experienced  Field Service Technician to join our team.

If you're the kind of technician who likes figuring out  why something isn't working—and gets satisfaction from getting it running again—this could be a great fit.

This isn't a repetitive maintenance role. You'll work with sophisticated industrial equipment, travel to customer facilities across North America, tackle mechanical and electrical challenges, install new systems, and become a trusted technical resource for our customers.

You'll have the independence to work in the field while still having the support of our Engineering, Manufacturing, and Service teams back at EMT.

Why You'll Like This Role

  • Variety: Different customers, equipment, locations, and technical challenges keep the work interesting.
  • Independence: You'll be trusted to assess problems, make decisions, and get equipment back up and running.
  • Hands-on technical work: Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and software-related systems.
  • Travel: See different parts of the country while working directly with customers, with opportunities for international travel.
  • Direct impact: When a customer needs help, you're the person they rely on to solve the problem and keep production moving.
  • Team support: You're independent in the field, but you're not on your own. You'll have access to experienced Service, Engineering, and Manufacturing teams when you need them.

What You'll Do

Install, Troubleshoot & Service Equipment

  • Install and commission EMT International OEM finishing equipment at customer facilities.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and software-related issues.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, calibrations, and equipment evaluations.
  • Troubleshoot problems from the initial symptom through root cause and resolution.
  • Train customer operators and maintenance teams on equipment operation, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance.

Be a Trusted Technical Resource

  • Provide customers with technical support in person, over the phone, through email, and via remote access.
  • Communicate clearly with customers while working through equipment issues.
  • Help customers get the best performance and reliability from their equipment.
  • Recognize recurring issues and work with internal teams to develop long-term solutions.

Support Equipment Before It Leaves EMT

When you're not traveling, you'll stay hands-on at our facility by:

  • Assisting with machine assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and factory acceptance activities.
  • Working alongside Engineering and Manufacturing to resolve technical challenges.
  • Sharing what you learn in the field to help improve our equipment and processes.

Keep the Team Informed

  • Complete clear and accurate service reports and equipment histories.
  • Document repairs, modifications, parts usage, and warranty information.
  • Communicate field modifications and equipment redlines back to the appropriate teams.

What You'll Bring

We're looking for someone who is naturally curious, mechanically or electrically inclined, and comfortable taking ownership of technical problems.

You'll be a strong fit if you have:

  • Experience installing, troubleshooting, servicing, or maintaining industrial machinery, automation, or manufacturing equipment.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting abilities.
  • Experience reading electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and technical documentation.
  • The ability to systematically troubleshoot equipment and identify root causes.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work directly with customers.
  • The confidence to work independently while knowing when to bring in additional resources.
  • Good organization and documentation skills.
  • The ability to work safely in industrial and manufacturing environments.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.

Travel & Schedule

This is a true field service role and requires up to 80% domestic travel, sometimes on short notice.

You'll travel primarily throughout North America to install equipment, troubleshoot customer issues, provide training, and support existing systems. There are also opportunities for international travel.

If you enjoy being on the move, working with your hands, solving challenging technical problems, and having customers genuinely appreciate what you bring to the table, we'd like to talk with you.
